- A pastry brush
- Knife
- Bowl(s)
- Stirring spoon
- Peeler
- Apple corer
- Cheese grater
Ingredients:
- 1 Large sheet of Puff Pastry
- 4 Cooking Apples
- 1 Orange
- 75g Raisins
- 40g Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- Dash of Whisky (optional)
- 1 Egg (beaten)
- 1 tbsp of Butter
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 190°C.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples and cook these with the brown sugar until soft (approx. 25 minutes).
- In a bowl, mix together the cooked apples, raisins, a tsp of ground cinnamon, the zest of 1 orange, and crumble 150g of the Orange & Whiskey Cheddar into it, adding a dash of whisky if preferred.
- In a separate bowl melt a tbsp of butter, again add a dash of whisky if you like it boozy.
- Roll out your pastry and cover with the melted butter.
- Place the apple mixture down the centre of the pastry whilst making sure there is enough space left on the edges to wrap around to form the Strudel.
- Wrap the free pastry across the filling to form the Strudel, brush with the beaten egg, and sprinkle some brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
- Place the Strudel on a baking tray on a sheet of baking paper and cook in the oven until the pastry is crisp and golden (approx. 30 minutes).
- Tasty tip: Serve warm with ice cream or custard!
