You will need:
- A baking tray
- Baking paper
- A rolling pin
- A pastry brush
- A cheese grater
- Wooden skewers
Ingredients:
- 100g Pigs in Blankets Cheddar
- Plain Flour (to sprinkle over your workspace)
- A Puff Pastry Sheet
- 1 Egg
- Sausages and Bacon (if serving with real Pigs in Blankets!)
- Chuckling Cheese Red Onion Marmalade (to serve)
Method:
-
Preheat your oven to 200°C.
-
Grate 100g of your Pigs in Blankets flavoured Cheddar into a bowl, and set aside.
-
Sprinkle some flour on your working surface, to ensure the pastry does not stick.
-
Take your pastry sheet, and with a rolling pin, roll it to a long sheet approximately 30cm x 20cm.
-
Take your grated cheese, and sprinkle it on half of your pastry sheet.
-
Fold the bear side of the pastry over, to rest on top of the cheesey side, and press down to join them.
-
Cut the sheet of pastry into long strips, approximately 2cm in width.
-
In a separate bowl, beat your egg, and with a pastry brush, cover the top side of the pastry strips with the egg mixture.
-
Zig-zag each strip of pastry to build up the Christmas tree shape.
-
Dip your skewers in water, to avoid them becoming burnt in the oven, and pierce each mini Christmas tree with a wooden skewer.
-
Lay your creations onto a baking tray, lined with baking paper.
-
Bake them in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden.
-
Serve each tree with an actual Pig in Blanket and some Chuckling Cheese Red Onion Marmalade!
