Piggy Puff Pastry Christmas Trees

You will need:

  • A baking tray
  • Baking paper
  • A rolling pin
  • A pastry brush
  • A cheese grater
  • Wooden skewers

Ingredients:

  • 100g Pigs in Blankets Cheddar
  • Plain Flour (to sprinkle over your workspace)
  • A Puff Pastry Sheet
  • 1 Egg
  • Sausages and Bacon (if serving with real Pigs in Blankets!)
  • Chuckling Cheese Red Onion Marmalade (to serve)

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.

  2. Grate 100g of your Pigs in Blankets flavoured Cheddar into a bowl, and set aside.

  3. Sprinkle some flour on your working surface, to ensure the pastry does not stick.

  4. Take your pastry sheet, and with a rolling pin, roll it to a long sheet approximately 30cm x 20cm.

  5. Take your grated cheese, and sprinkle it on half of your pastry sheet.

  6. Fold the bear side of the pastry over, to rest on top of the cheesey side, and press down to join them.

  7. Cut the sheet of pastry into long strips, approximately 2cm in width.

  8. In a separate bowl, beat your egg, and with a pastry brush, cover the top side of the pastry strips with the egg mixture.

  9. Zig-zag each strip of pastry to build up the Christmas tree shape.

  10. Dip your skewers in water, to avoid them becoming burnt in the oven, and pierce each mini Christmas tree with a wooden skewer.

  11. Lay your creations onto a baking tray, lined with baking paper.

  12. Bake them in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden.

  13. Serve each tree with an actual Pig in Blanket and some Chuckling Cheese Red Onion Marmalade!
